Iran May Be the Battlefield, But It Isn’t the Real Target

There is something about this conflict with Iran that is deeply uncomfortable to watch.

All wars are terrible. Nobody wanted another military conflict. We still have PTSD from watching children in Gaza being killed day in, day out, and four years later we’re still dealing with Ukraine.

But watching Trump move in what appears to be lockstep with Israel is very, very painful. Seeing Netanyahu seemingly getting everything he wants, at least for now, is excruciating. And listening to people like Lindsey Graham literally salivate as bombs drop makes my stomach turn.

For many people, Trump has crossed a line with this. Those who have long accused him of being Netanyahu’s puppet now feel vindicated. I understand why they would think that. At face value, it certainly looks that way.

Israel has already crossed into southern Lebanon, destroying villages and displacing thousands of civilians. Mossad is trying to expand the conflict by provoking Gulf states and making attacks appear as if they were carried out by Iran. And what was supposed to be a short operation already feels like it could become something much larger, something in line with the so-called “Greater Israel” project.

But remember, nothing is quite what it seems…

This war is not only about Iran. It’s not only about nukes or radical regimes. This war is about exposing Israel.

It is about exposing the power structure that has steered Western foreign policy in the Middle East for decades.

Israel’s government and its security priorities have exercised extraordinary influence over Washington and Western capitals through lobbying networks, political capture, intelligence alignment, and even outright blackmail, as we have seen through the Epstein files.

That influence has long been treated as untouchable, and anyone who pointed to it was shut down, smeared, or silenced. But now it is no longer hidden.

American soldiers are dying once again in a conflict whose gravity clearly serves Israeli strategic objectives, and the alignment is now so blatant that even people who never questioned it before can suddenly see it.

Call me crazy, but I believe Trump may be allowing that alignment to become visible on purpose. He is taking the political hit, sacrificing public opinion and even risking his own image to demonstrate how every war in the Middle East has come to be: at the behest of Israel.

And if that exposure reaches critical mass, if the public in the West finally sees, collectively, that their governments have been dragged into wars for decades by a foreign ‘ally’s’ agenda, then this could become the turning point.

The end of Israel’s untouchable status in Western politics. The end of the era in which Israel’s security agenda automatically becomes the West’s war.

So yes, this is uncomfortable. It is morally exhausting and terrifying in its potential consequences. But mark my words: the outcome may not be what everyone thinks.

Iran may be the battlefield, but the real target could be the Israeli system of influence that has been operating for decades. Because the moment it becomes undeniable to the masses, it begins to lose its power.

The very war that Israeli leadership has pushed for decades could ultimately become the most dangerous strategic gamble Israel has ever taken.

History has a strange way of turning victories into traps, and those celebrating today may one day realise that the war they fought so hard to provoke was the beginning of the end of their own dominance.

And I believe Trump is counting on it.
