The United States continues to suffer from severe weather.
Heavy rain hit South Florida on Tuesday.
Fort Lauderdale was hit the hardest.
Since Tuesday, total rainfall has been about 20 cm.
Continued rainfall is set to make this the wettest year on record for Fort Lauderdale.
There has already been a staggering 250cm of rainfall this year.
The incessant downpour caused flooding in some parts of the city as well as in Miami.
As of Wednesday evening, more than 20,000 homes in Florida were without power.
Broward County Public Schools canceled classes and closed administrative offices Thursday.
Authorities warned people not to drive on flooded roads.
There were no reports of casualties.

Notes to Readers:

For those of you who enjoy my photo journal entries, know that although I don’t live in Southern Florida any more, we are still being affected by the continuously wet weather the entire state has endured this past week. Therefore, don’t expect any trail reports from me until the trails dry out somewhat… which will be sometime next week.

Flagler County is all low-lying country. Any depression in the landscape soon fills up with water. Currently, I don’t own a pair of rain boots that would allow me to squish my way even around the neighborhood. The drains and verge are all pools of liquid and the rain is still coming down.

For those of you who live on the East Coast, north of Florida, keep a weather eye open as the storm moves northward. It may or may not affect the NE this coming weekend.
