Birds, Butterflies, Bees and Blossoms – A Late Spring Walk | Eliza’s Photo Journal

Swallowtail visiting Pentas
Delicate pink blossoms of Beauty Berry
Subtropical exuberance
Iris

Besides the butterflies, here is the one critter I caught in action, very slow action:

Rare Gopher Tortoise digging a nest
Cheerful Daisies
Blanket Flower – Gaillardia growing in the gravel
Pink Perfection – looks like a David Austin variety
Massive Southern Live Oak
Sinuous branching of Live Oak
Serenity in White
Forest beauty
River to Sea Preserve – serene beauty

On Friday, the 24th, I headed out to two more favs, River to Sea Preserve near Marine World and Washington Oaks Gardens State Park.

From shy forest flowers, to rabbits and a racoon, a Gopher Tortoise, a large Pileated woodpecker, osprey, bees, butterflies, and extravagant garden beauties, it was a great day for walking in Nature.

The weather is warming up in Florida. We will be experiencing August type temperatures this coming week so I may not be going out as much. I am slowly acclimatizing, but it’s important to keep hydrated and in the shade as much as possible. I’m not one for frying in the sunshine on the beach.

If you’re American, have a safe and pleasant holiday weekend for Memorial Day. My father, uncles, and several cousins all served in the military. They came home. Many didn’t.

In Joy,

Eliza Ayres
