Here are some of the walks I’ve done in the past couple of weeks. I’m still getting used to my new camera. It seems to take darker images than the Nikon. Still, I’m not trying to do professional photography here. I think I take a camera along as a habit and kind of comfort blanket. In the past, I have done paintings of some of these scenes but am not set up for doing painting right now.
On some of these hikes I encountered closed trails due to wind damage from one or more of the hurricanes we endured in this area. On the whole, we did okay, but the heavy winds do occasionally take down some of the heavier old oaks or snap branches off the palms. The northern portion of Bulow Woods is still shut down due to a hurricane two years ago. Still, the damage locally is by no means comparable to what WNC and Eastern TN endured.
The weather in Florida has moderated. We’re going to get a cold snap tomorrow with a low of 39 – 40 degrees F (4 C) and highs at 60 F (15C). That’s ‘cold’ for Florida so I’ll be wearing a sweatshirt. I love winters here. There’s no ice to scrape off the windshield in the morning.
Happy Holidays to everyone…

Thanks for sharing your photos. I’ve been getting out daily for short woodsy hikes. The mushrooms are having the reign this time of year.

Thanks, Dick. Dear Readers: This is a good friend with whom I used to hike when I lived in Western WA. Great guy! Glad you’re enjoying viewing the mushrooms. We have some here in Florida, too. Enjoy your wet weather hiking and soon snowshoeing? Say hello to Darlene! ~ Eliza

Thanks for the photos, Eliza, and for everything else that you do – I REALLY appreciate the time you take to whittle things down for us. I haven’t been with you since 2012, only for the past year or so (?), but I’m glad I finally found you. We’re having snow, rain and ice, not as nice as finding mushrooms!! Hope everyone will have joyful holidays….

Wrote a couple of comments but not sure they went through. Had a glitch on this end.
Re-creation of previous attempt is below.
Thank you for the picture tour and descriptions. …. Particularly the single yellow flower backed by large green leaves. It’s cold and low solid overcast of clouds up here in North Idaho. Just a few brief snitches of sun in the past week. Yuck
Your pictures really bring a smile to my face … just perfect for a grey day here.
It appears to me that in the last several months you have upped the content you write. Much appreciated and it gets shared with a swath of others.
Am really enjoying and using [with others] your expanded history sketches you are writing to give context for what is going on now in the US, the planet and off planet. Also noticing that you are putting more content in your descriptions and amplifications of the articles and pieces you put in your blog every day. Thank you for the thoughtful and straight forward descriptions. It helps servant warriors like myself convey points to awakening others.
A fun bit of “hit and miss” project I have been conducting for the last couple of months is asking others who use the internet and alternative info/intel media this question.
“If you were limited, for some reason, to only one internet info/intel site you could review everyday which one would you choose?
Variations to this question have been as follows “If you were limited to just 2 internet info/intel sites you could review every day which two would you select?
At times I have asked what 3 sites they would choose if that was their limit every day.
Rough results …. If the individual is aware of Sunny’s Journal 80-85% pick your site as a must review site. Good job,
Thank you so much for helping us enduring the good fight for humanity.
