The Old Map of Power is Being Redrawn | Laura Aboli

It may not seem like it now, with the United States using force in the Middle East, but I believe all of this is part of a much bigger shift that most people still cannot quite see.

We are watching the old map of power being redrawn in real time.

Trump keeps hinting at pulling the United States away from NATO, and that is not a minor detail. It is one of the clearest signs that the post war order is being reconsidered at the highest level. Add to that the creation of the Board of Peace, which I believe may well be the framework meant to replace NATO, and a pattern begins to emerge.

The old alliances are losing their relevance. The old structures are being hollowed out. The old military architecture is becoming too expensive, too exposed and too outdated for the world that is now taking shape.

I suspect the US military bases that have just been destroyed in the Middle East will not be rebuilt, because this is no longer about permanent occupation or endless projection of power, it is about transition.

A transition toward a world divided into broader spheres of influence, with the United States concentrating on the Western Hemisphere, Russia on Europe’s edge and beyond, China on Asia, and new structures emerging to manage what the old ones no longer can.

Everything is changing, even if most people cannot recognise it yet.
