The photos below were taken on the 21st, Solstice, at North Peninsula State Park:

The next photos were taken today at Bulow Woods, a section off of Walter Boardman Lane.

This group of photos is from three different walks. I visited Plantation Ruins SP last Sunday and then went to North Peninsula and another chunk of Bulow Woods today. The weather was pleasantly coolish. I encountered only two people with their dogs at No. Peninsula and no one on my walk in Bulow Woods on either day.
Central Florida’s oak, palm and hardwood forests don’t have the colorful autumn color found further north. Most of the color comes from the Pignut Hickories, Red Maples and Liquidambar (Sweet Gum) but most of these trees are so tall it’s hard to decipher who is who. The hickories do dump a lot of nuts this time of the year, keeping the local squirrels well-fed.
I hope everyone enjoys their Solstice and the days approaching Christmas.
In Joy,

It is amazing the beauty that we can find in Central Florida. I often want to move up north to escape from Palm Beach County, although nature is quite lovely here. Thank you for all your photos, past and present, it is really appreciated. Also please do keep informing us the way you have been doing. Happy Solstice and Best Wishes for 2026. Gina.
