🔥 Everything in the Fire
The Fire You Are Going Through Is Not a Mistake
July 22, 2026
What if the fire isn’t evidence that you’ve failed?
What if the fire is the very process through which you are becoming who you were always meant to be?
There are seasons in life when everything seems to be under pressure. Plans fall apart. Identities dissolve. Relationships change. The path we thought we were walking disappears beneath our feet.
And our first instinct is often to ask:
“What did I do wrong?”
Yet the ancient alchemists understood something different.
Gold is not created by avoiding the fire.
It is revealed through the fire.
The fire removes what is not essential. It separates what is true from what is false. It burns away the identities, attachments, beliefs, and structures that can no longer accompany us into the next chapter.
The fire is not always comfortable.
It is not always gentle.
And it is not always something we would consciously choose.
Yet sometimes the very circumstances we perceive as destruction are actually the conditions of transformation.

✨ From The Wellness Alchemist to Everything in the Fire
For many years, the work I was called to share centered around The Wellness Alchemist.
The word alchemist has always carried a deeper meaning for me.
Alchemy isn’t simply about turning lead into gold.
It is about transformation.
It is about entering into relationship with the elements, with the unseen forces of life, and with the parts of ourselves that are ready to be transformed.
And perhaps, in many ways, my own life has been an alchemical process.
What began as a journey of wellness evolved into a journey of sovereignty.
From healing the body…
To understanding consciousness…
To remembering our relationship with the Earth…
To questioning the systems we’ve inherited…
To returning to the wisdom of our ancestors…
To recognizing that perhaps true restoration begins within.
The Wellness Alchemist was never really about wellness alone.
It was about remembering how to transform.
And now, Everything in the Fire feels like the next chapter of that same journey.
Because sometimes the greatest alchemy happens when the identity we’ve built can no longer contain the being we are becoming.
⸻
🔥 The Fire Is a Teacher
We often want to escape the fire.
We pray for the fire to end.
We ask:
“When will this be over?”
And sometimes the deeper question is:
“What is this fire here to teach me?”
What is being burned away?
What am I being asked to release?
What version of myself is no longer sustainable?
What truth is becoming impossible to ignore?
What is trying to emerge?
The fire may be grief.
It may be loss.
It may be the ending of a relationship.
It may be financial uncertainty.
It may be the collapse of a career or business.
It may be the dissolution of an identity.
It may be the moment when you realize that the life you built no longer feels like the life you were meant to live.
And sometimes…
The fire is the awakening.
⸻
🌑 The Ancient Pattern of Transformation
This isn’t a new idea.
The human story has always carried the archetype of transformation through descent.
The Dark Night of the Soul.
The descent into the underworld.
The death and rebirth mythology.
The alchemical stages of transformation.
The phoenix rising from the ashes.
Across cultures and traditions, humanity has remembered the same essential pattern:
Something must end for something new to emerge.
The seed must break open.
The caterpillar must dissolve.
The forest must sometimes burn.
The old identity must die.
And the person who emerges from the fire is not the same person who entered it.
⸻
🌿 The Fire of Our Time
Perhaps we are also living through a collective fire.
Institutions are being questioned.
Old systems are being exposed.
People are reconsidering what they value.
Communities are remembering the importance of land, food, water, culture, and relationship.
Many of us are being asked to reconsider what “success” actually means.
Is it accumulation?
Or is it contribution?
Is it individual achievement?
Or is it collective wellbeing?
Is it controlling nature?
Or is it remembering how to live in relationship with ʻāina?
The fire is personal.
And it is collective.
Perhaps we are being refined—not simply as individuals, as a civilization.
⸻
🌺 From Surviving the Fire to Becoming the Firekeeper
There comes a point when we stop asking:
“How do I get out of the fire?”
And begin asking:
“What am I here to carry through the fire?”
What wisdom can survive?
What values are worth protecting?
What traditions must be remembered?
What must be restored?
What are we willing to tend?
This is where the fire changes.
We are no longer simply being transformed by circumstances.
We begin to consciously participate in the transformation.
We become firekeepers.
People who can stand in the heat without becoming consumed by it.
People who can carry the flame without weaponizing it.
People who can illuminate without destroying.

🔥 Questions for the Conversation
What fire are you currently walking through?
Have you ever experienced something you thought was destroying you, only to realize later that it was transforming you?
What identity have you had to release?
What is being burned away in your life right now?
What remains when the unnecessary is stripped away?
How do we distinguish between a fire that is refining us and a situation we genuinely need to leave?
What does it mean to surrender to transformation without surrendering our sovereignty?
What happens when we stop resisting the fire and begin listening to it?
What wisdom from our ancestors can help us navigate times of collective transformation?
What are we being asked to carry forward into the world that is emerging?
⸻
🕊️ Closing Reflection
Maybe the question isn’t:
“Why is this happening to me?”
Maybe it is:
“Who am I becoming through this?”
You are not the fire.
You are the one who is learning how to walk through it.
You are not the ashes.
You are what remains when the false has been burned away.
And perhaps the greatest alchemy of all is discovering that the gold you were searching for was never something you needed to become.
It was something you needed to remember.
The fire you are going through is not a mistake.
It is revealing you.
🔥 Everything in the Fire.

Notes to Readers:
And I used to be married to a metallurgist… Ironic, isn’t it?
For me, this process of refinement has been slowly proceeding for over 50 years… still working on.
