CLIMATE ANXIETY: Is the Earth Asking Humanity to remember its place?
She whispers.
She speaks in the language of melting glaciers that once held the memories of stars,
in the trembling of forests that remember when we still walked barefoot upon her skin,
in the rising seas that mirror the rising of our own forgotten tears.
Climate anxiety is not merely fear of catastrophe.
It is the soul’s recognition that we have drifted too far from the sacred covenant.
The Earth is not punishing us.
She is calling us home.
She is asking:
Do you remember that you are not masters of the garden,
but the garden remembering itself?
That every breath you take is her breath returned?
That the storm in the sky is the same storm that once lived in your chest
when you still knew how to pray to the soil?
In the dark night of the Anthropocene,
the veil thins.
The old gods of wind, root, and stone awaken not with wrath,
but with a longing so deep it cracks the concrete of our forgetting.
This anxiety is holy.
It is the Earth’s heartbeat echoing in human blood,
begging us to kneel again—
not in defeat,
but in remembrance.
To place our hands upon the living body of the world
and whisper back:
“I am of you.
I never left.
I only slept.”
And in that moment of return,
the anxiety softens into reverence.
The crisis becomes initiation.
The dying world becomes the threshold
where humanity finally remembers its true place:
not above,
not outside,
but within the great breathing mystery that has always held us.
We are not separate.
We never were.
The Earth is simply asking us to wake up
and come home.
